Frequently Asked Questions
Roof Painting FAQ's
Can I paint my own roof?
While DIY roof painting is possible, working at heights can be dangerous without the proper safety equipment and experience. A professional roof painting service ensures the surface is thoroughly pressure cleaned, damaged tiles or rusted areas are addressed, and the correct primer or sealer is applied before the top coats. Professional application also helps achieve an even, durable finish that meets the manufacturer’s specifications. For long-lasting results and greater peace of mind, we recommend having your roof painted by experienced professionals.
How long does the roof painting process take?
Most residential roof painting projects take approximately 3–5 working days, depending on the roof’s size, condition, accessibility and weather conditions. The process includes inspection, pressure cleaning, repairs, drying, primer or sealer application, and two coats of Dulux Acratex Roof Membrane. We allow sufficient drying time between each stage to ensure proper adhesion and a quality finish. Your estimated project timeframe will be provided with your quote.
What happens if it rains during the roof painting job?
Weather conditions play an important role in achieving a durable roof coating. If rain, heavy dew or unsuitable temperatures are forecast, we may postpone or temporarily pause the work to protect the roof and ensure proper coating application. We only apply roof coatings when the surface and weather conditions meet the manufacturer’s recommendations. If unexpected rain occurs, we’ll assess the affected area and allow it to dry fully before continuing. This helps prevent peeling, poor adhesion and premature coating failure.
